EMDR Therapist Florida

Move Beyond Shame and Claim Your Authenticity

You’ve read the parenting books, scoured allergy-friendly recipes, and fought more battles than you can count—with doctors, schools, even family members who don’t get it and don't get you. You hold everything together because you have to. But inside? You’re exhausted, anxious, and weighed down by a mix of fear, guilt, and frustration that never seems to let up.

That’s where EMDR therapy comes in.

How EMDR Helps You Heal When Traditional Talk Therapy Falls Short

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is not your typical talk therapy.

It’s not about overanalyzing your past or spending years rehashing trauma. Instead, it helps your brain process those overwhelming moments—so they stop running your life in the background.

EMDR is like decluttering your mind—taking out the old, painful experiences and beliefs that still trigger you and putting them where they belong: in the past or in a different perspective. So you can move forward without carrying all of that weight.

No, you don’t have to talk through every detail. No, you don’t have to “relax” or “just let it go” (because we both know that’s not how it works). What you do need? A safe space, an experienced therapist who gets it, and a willingness to start healing—on your terms.

EMDR Helps Your Nervous System Finally Feel Safe Again

Your brain has a natural way of processing experiences—think of it like filing memories away so they don’t intrude on your daily life. But when something traumatic happens, that system can break down. Instead of properly storing the memory, your brain keeps it in raw, unprocessed form—along with all the fear, panic, and helplessness you felt in the moment.

So even when the danger is over, your body still reacts like you’re in it.

EMDR helps “unstick” those memories by working directly with the nervous system. It uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to activate both sides of the brain, allowing those stored experiences to reprocess naturally—so they stop triggering intense emotional and physical responses.

What This Means for You

✔ Less panic, more trust. Instead of spiraling into worst-case scenarios, you’ll be able to assess risk without drowning in anxiety.

✔ Goodbye, guilt loops. That endless “What if I had done something differently?” thinking? EMDR helps shift those patterns so you can forgive yourself and feel more confident in your decisions.

✔ Freedom from hypervigilance. You’ll learn how to respond, not just react—so you can keep your child safe without living in a constant state of fear.

✔ More presence, less resentment. No more being consumed by frustration at family, schools, or a world that doesn’t get it. You’ll be able to set boundaries without carrying the emotional weight of other people’s ignorance.

This isn’t about “getting over it” or “just thinking positive.” It’s about rewiring your nervous system so you can feel safe—really safe—again.

Because you deserve that peace.

What to Expect in EMDR Therapy Sessions

We will work together for a brief and concentrated period of time to break down the pain, frustration, and exhaustion of living others’ expectations and instill your authenticity into your mind and your body and your spirit through EMDR Intensive therapy..

An EMDR Intensive starts with an EMDR Prep Talk.

EMDR Prep Talk

We will spend about 90 minutes:

  • Getting to know each other

  • Explore your goals

  • Identify targets for treatment

  • Scheduling your Intensive sessions

EMDR Intensive sessions are held for three days during the course of a week. Each session is 3 hours and is tailored to your specific needs.

Your first session will start with learning some coping strategies (you know, those things that you are supposed to magically know how to do now that you are an adult), so you feel better prepared to manage whatever comes up.

EMDR Intensive

  • Three days in one week

  • 3 hours each day

  • Individually tailored

  • Prepare with emotional management skills

  • Deep dive into targets

  • Trickle Down Effect

  • Ongoing healing between sessions

We’re then going to take a deep dive into those messages and beliefs that are no longer serving you.

During those three days, we may focus on only one target or several! The number doesn’t matter! It is common for there to be a “trickle down” effect: what is true for one target can be true for another; thus, we are able to address more than one target at a time. Effective and efficient! Love it!!!!

Your brain and your body are going to keep working in between and after your Intensive sessions; making new connections and developing new insights that are going to feed your authenticity!

We will meet for a 60-90 minute EMDR Debrief session to discuss how that process is going and how it feels. We will also talk about how you want to move forward in your journey and what options you have to keep the healing going.

EMDR Debrief

  • 60-90 minute session

  • Process new insight and connections

  • Options for continued healing

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EMDR, and how does it work? EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy that helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they don’t feel as overwhelming. Instead of just talking about what happened, EMDR works with your nervous system to help you release old trauma, shift unhelpful beliefs, and feel more in control of your emotions.

Who can benefit from EMDR therapy? EMDR is effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and even negative beliefs about yourself. If you feel stuck in old emotional patterns, EMDR may help.

What does an EMDR session feel like? EMDR sessions are structured yet intuitive. We’ll use sounds or tapping to activate your brain’s natural healing process while you gently process difficult memories. Many clients feel a sense of relief and clarity afterward.
